XR311


As you can see, Tamiya's XR311 is really close to the original. The XR311 RC model was made in the years before Lexan bodies came on the market, thank god...

The XR311 was engineered by a private company beginning in 1969. Tthe US Army was at that time looking for a replacement from the famous Willys (Wild Willy), and ordered 10 of these XR311's for testing.

The car was tested thoroughly as a very fast military vehicle. It had a three speed automatic transmission and a rear mounted 318 cui V8. Some of the features were tube frame chassis and 4WD, snorkel and balloon tires!
