The Sand Rover is, as most Tamiya RC cars, based on real cars in USA. The Sand Rover is no exception. It is not easy to fins a exact match to what buggy Tamiya looked at when modelling the Sand Rover, but the most popular one in that period was the Meyers Manx. Check out the pictures below.
