Tamiya model 58044 is obviously based on the Mitsubishi Pajero.
The actual model is one Pajero that ran in the 1983 Paris-Alger-Dakar rally. 1983 was the first year for the Pajero in the Rally (Pajero was introduced in 1982), and it entered in the Production class (meaning fairly standard car) and was competing in the Marathon class (little could be changed or replaced on the car during the race). The Pajero won its class, and has since more or less ruled this rally.
