The Tamiya Ferrari F189 is a replica of the Ferrari F1-98, or as it was
named officially, the Ferrari 640..
.

| |
|
| |
The Ferrari
640 was the Formula One racing car with which the Ferrari team competed in
the 1989 season. It was driven by Nigel Mansell and Gerhard Berger. |

| |
The 640 was
powered by Ferrari's own 3.5 litre V12 engine which produced up to 660bhp.
The transmission it was mated to was the very first 7-speed semi-automatic
gearbox seen in F1. |

A revised
version of the 640 appeared at the Mexican Grand Prix with a conventional
airbox above and behind the driver's helmet |

Tamiya made
a model of the late version, as seen in the first four pictures here. The
Late version was introduced to the fourth race in the Mexican GP.

This is the
early version of the 640, note the different air scoop above the driver's
helmet.

Gerhard Berger's early version, also seen in the picture above, in the
rear.
