I have stripped it down and will be giving it a good clean. Can you use ball bearings? as the brass have grove`s round the edge  never seen that before. Previous owner silicone round the gear box  but will i have too?? i guess i don`t have to. and i have fix the crack on the body shell. Any ideas would be grateful :)

HI!... Do the whitening trick on all the white plastic parts. It will make them look almost like new after a few days.

Boiling the front bumper in boiling water for a few minutes will help get rid of the stress marks.

I don't see why you could not use ball races - they should be identical to the SRB.

Re silicon - it is used for waterproofing, so not strictly necessary if you are not planning to get it wet! I would use a VERY SMALL amount of clear silicone on the joints and wipe off any excess before it dries. Nothing looks worse than big blobs of silicone all over the place.

edit: Can you post a picture of the grooves around the brass bushes? I'm curious :)

I imagine these are the bushes in question :) standard srb?
If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem mate :)
