The Jaguar XJR-12 is a sports-prototype race car built by Jaguar for both Group C and IMSA GTP. The car is famous for winning the 1990 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Tamiya model is from the IMSA series where Jaguar used a Jaguar livery on both #60 and #61 cars. Jaguar started with the XJR series in 1984 by developing a car for the IMSA series. (XJR-5) After being established in IMSA Jaguar turned to TWR to develop a car for the World Sports car Championship.(XJR-6) Later TWR took over development of cars for both series and introduced the XJR-9. The XJR-12 was introduced for the 1990 season and the won both the 24h at Le Mans (WSC) and the 24h race at Daytona (IMSA). The engine in the XJR-12 was the old reliable Jaguar V12. The XJR-12 only survived for one season as for 1991 Jaguar introduced the new XJR-14 with a naturally aspirated V8 made by Cosworth.
