Stretched CC-01 Clod crew cab 11 years 10 months ago #9665

So I finally got both my Clod bodies. The Wraith diffs are way too wide, so my idea of making a chassis with the axles won't work. So on to plan "B"

Stretch my CC-01 to fit the body. But here is progress so far...

Two Clod bodies

Two grill ideas

No turning back now...

someones will say that it is easy to make a double cab with 2 bodies...
But I think that it is very funny and needs some work. It's fantastic.
I love it.
I could restore my clod bodies which had some shoots.
FELICITATION

"It's easy to make a double cab with 2 bodies..." Yeah, & the simplest solutions are always the best!
Can't believe you beat me to it Louisbaby - I've spent best part of a year trying to land a Clod body for a similar project, then BANG, you land 2 of them, & chop 1 in half!
Seriously though, love it already. Bit disappointed you bottled out of using proper axles & chassis though.
What route are you going with it? Rugged & realistic or shiny shelfer? I vote matt black with rust & dents...

Best part about it is, I got another 2 hard bodies from the same guy, including a Juggernaut, Madbull, Hilux, and 3 other gas cars.

I still want to make a chassis for it, but i'll wait for the axles and parts, life has me cutting down on spending money on my hobby, not too mention space...
I am getting a box of chassis, diffs, and various truck parts... We'll see then...

Honestly LB, I'm ambivalent about this one ... and I mean "ambivalent" not in the incorrect usual interpretation of the word as "meh" or "not bothered" - I mean in the true sense of feeling two strong but opposed emotions.

On the one hand, as usual I'm hugely impressed by your imagination, ambition and building skills, and I'm sure this will come out looking really good ... but on the other hand, I've always found the 1:1 vehicles of this type a bit pointless and, well, stupid looking.

:y: / :S

Yeah, double cabs are pointless as far as I can see (& know, cos I used to own one...) but you have to admit that they look "different" (Especially the double-wheel ones). Personally, although I don't much care for their "beauty" I find them a breath of fresh air amongst all the dolphin friendly, dust powered slices of cheese using the roads nowadays, & they're rare to see as scale RCers

a bit pointless / double cabs are pointless

Maybe more useful if you have a big family or a lot of friends (or possibly too many). :) ;)

I'm not saying they the most desired vehicles in the world, but they intrigue me, especially the Chevy crew cabs. There is a guy on scale4x4rc.org that has built about 8 crew cabs of different shape size and form. I would have liked to make a proper hydraulic low rider version of this crew cab, but I'm not really into the onroad cars, so it would be a waste. An off road version would be more at home in my collection... ;)

Well, perhaps I phrased it badly

I'm sure there are times when you could need to get 5 people and an awkward shaped load somewhere, I just think there must be more elegant ways of doing it :)
