Please note that rims may react differently because of plastic type and the way you heat them. If you try what this article describe, please always make a test first.

Step 1: Use a pot large enough to fit all the wheels you wish to remove tyres from and fill to about half way with water, place onto the stove top and bring to the boil.

Step 2: Place all the wheels into the boiling water and leave for about 3 minutes (of course it doesn’t matter if you leave for longer)

Make sure that once the water is boiling that you bring it back to a simmer and don't let the wheels touch the bottom to avoid warping the plastic.

Step 3: Remove a wheel from the pot and place onto a towel on the bench top (Safety first, remember to use tongs to handle the wheel from the pot, dishwashing gloves may also be good) Then holding the wheel push down on the sidewall of the tyre (you could use your thumb or a wooden spoon for this) as the glue releases you should hear a crackling sound, if it does not release with minimal to a little effort, then it needs longer on the boil. These tyres were only glued on 1 side, if yours have been glued on both you will need to complete Steps 2 and 3 on each side.

Step 4: Completely remove the tyre from the rim ready for cleaning and reuse. Once you have finished removing all tyres you should find that there is minimal residue on the rims and both the rims and tyres should be reusable if they weren’t damaged to start with.

Step 5: Clean up the kitchen, wash and put everything you’ve used away . This is a very important step for keeping Wifey happy.
