You probably know what you are doing, love to see it run. but I dont understand it anymore

The manual for for the March f-1 doesnt mention that part you made, but it does look like spare part 91 very much..

I would just try to get sparepart 77 if I were you.

I also needed sparepart 69, which consists of the 2 photo's below.

You need spareparts 77 and 69 (for parts C6,C1 twice, C3, C12 and metal part M5)
If you go stock like the manual..if that helps anything..

Thanks Feraz! Yeah I don't understand it any more either! Just making it up as I go now.... I don't think there's much point trying to keep it original as so much of it has been hacked about by its previous owner, so I'm just trying to get it running as a hack for the office carpet at work! Thanks for the pics, seeing the gears etc brought back some memories! Could you do me a favour though, & count the number of teeth on the diff gear please? I've only worked it out in theory & it's not stated in the manual, I'm not even sure if part 77 would fit the F2 (Motor/axle centres are not adjustable) which is another reason I thought I'd just make one.. HeHe, just ordered a Ford Escort mark 1 van body for it & looking into printing some mural water slide decals for it! This is gonna be cool....

count the number of teeth on the diff gear

I'd say 56 but it's hard to count the curve on the right. :pinch:

I'm very curious now. It's an entertaining little quiz at least.

I think that answers the question - just looked at the spare parts listing for 58013 again & the diff set is part 50011 (11) not 50077 (77), & if 50077 is 56/58 teeth, it suggests a different size/pitch - I worked it out to need approx 67 teeth, 0.6mod (Apparently same pitch as SRB primary gear). As I said, I've ordered an SRB primary gear set (65t + 70t) with a view to modifying the nearest match, perhaps slotting the motor holes to get the adjustment needed. Interestingly, these pics show the 50077 diff with 3x slots, & I'm certain my celica had a 2x slot one...

True!! 56 teeth, and sparepart 77 is made for the CS CompetitionSpecial Cars, (Countach and Celica Turbo).. You need sparepart 11.. forgot about that :silly:

Had some bits turn up today - scorcher gears & a Kamtec Ford Escort van body. Planning to make a diff using a scorcher gear & bits from the bag of fake TL01 diff bits, if I can just convince myself to go out in the cold shed! Chassis' mostly back together, needs tidying & body posts & maybe a bumper (Haven't decided yet). Made up a new 5 cell battery from surplus power tool cells

Making a diff, step 1 - find diff looking bits, measure it all & scrawl on a bit of paper. The SRB 70t gear is a goodish fit, opening the motor holes out to 3.5mm provided enough adjustment to get a perfect mesh. Usefully, the SRB gear is already the right width & has a 5mm centre hole, making it easier to set it up on the shaft for measuring.
Making a diff step 2 - sit back. stare at your scrawl, contemplate the prospect of machining work in the rapidly dropping temperature of the shed & say 'hmmm, maybe I'll do it tomorrow'

Finally got out in the shed over the weekend, made diff bits. Put it together & it works lovely, althought the motor pinion needs replacing (Making a bit of a racket!). Next job is either body, body posts or bumpers, not sure yet
