Hello, so I've started collecting up parts to make a Toyota Hilux 3 speed.
Here's an update of what the postman has been delivering.

Hey Al,
Looks like the makings of a great project, I think the Hilux is what really got me into collecting Tamiya, oh so many years ago, it really was the one I always wanted but never had when I was a boy.
I have been collecting bits for a Blazer for several years now, I really should put it together and see what I am missing now... ;)
Good thing you found the correct motor for it, you can press the gear onto another motor but you need to have that special gear first!
Also it seems you have had to go the R/C dismantler route too, I always have mixed feelings about these chaps, when you look at the listings they have obviously taken a complete truck and broken it up to sell, I guess it maximises the profit or something but it kind of hurts my soul a bit :(
It also makes it more expensive and time consuming to assemble all the bits again. But it does help when you are looking just for one bit or another or can only afford to buy a bit here and a bit there, I have sort of been in both camps myself at one time or another. The other thing I have noticed is it only seems to happen to the 3 speed trucks, well mostly, old buggies seem to be sold as a unit as a rule.
Good luck with the project!

PS. thanks for the radio info Stingray, it would be very cool for a project just like this .....B)

Thanks a lot for the response.
This was the car I could never afford as a teenager.
I didn’t think I’d be in this position now tbh. It kind of got out of hand, I initially thought I’d just buy the chassis frame.
Yeah right !!
I’ve spent 2 or 3 weeks buying as much as possible.
As you say these things just get stripped apart.
Totally agree with your sentiments.
I just like getting all those bits back together as they were meant to be.
If you start building your Blazer get in touch I might be able to help the way things are going.
Thanks again.

So after some personal tragedy I’ve finally got my badword back into gear and unpacked another one of the arrivals from weeks ago
Not a bad haul for £150 inc postage etc
Shame the lancia only came with two front wheels :( it does sit rather well on brat wheels tho for the moment haha :) :) :)
