I tend to just apply the decals directly to the body.
But I have use soapy water in the past with luck.
My way of doing it is to take a kitchen spray cleaner bottle, some drops if dishwashing liquid and then fill the bottle with water.
Then spray the area on the body where the decals are going to be fitted, fit decal and then use a micro towell from one side to another to press the water out.
A squeegee could also be used, but think it will only work on flat ish surfaces.
