Vintage "yank tank" body shell 10 years 6 months ago #25201

Just won this on ebay, mostly out of curiosity:

Can anyone tell me what it is?
Look like a late 70's Buick or similar to me.

edit: Mid 80's Buick Regal looks close

HI!... Back end looks like a early 80's Firebird. The front looks like a Ford Granada or Dodge Diplomat.

Hmmm, the 2 door USA spec Ford Granada looks like a possibility. UK Granada was a different car.
Lots of 70's cars had that pointed grille - my '73 Vauxhall Victor for example.

I think the awkward proportions of the shell are because it is designed to fit a buggy chassis. I remember several lexan saloon car (sedan) shells offered in the 80's to fit SRBs etc. One was the MK3 Ford Escort.
What manufacturers of aftermarket bodies were around in the 80's? I only really remember Parma.

edit: From further Googling, I think it might be a Proline Nascar shell, similar to this one

This is a Chevy Lumina, but it's along the same lines.

It is a old 84 or 86 Buick NASCAR.
Same period than "Days of Thunder".
Your blaxk picture is a rare 1987 Buick Regal Grand National GNX. V6 turbo charged more than 250HP. A piece of collection like the 58001 from Tamiya

Thanks Stingray. Do you know who made the bodyshell?

I've tried Googling vintage Parma, MRP, Andys and Proline but found nothing.

Parma is an american make. For me it is a parma they made a lot of nascar decals and others hot rods. On my Trinity street spec, they are Bolink nascar bodies like the lumina. Mine are Pontiac and a lumina. Bolink was or is a competiton bodies maker.

No, the Lumina is not mine. That was just an image I found on Google that was close (in spirit anyway) to the one I bought.
I'll post more pictures when I get it (haven't received notification that it's been dispatched yet :( )
