Hi All, I've recently rediscovered Tamiya RC buggies after stumbling into a hobby shop in UK, and being confronted with a re re lunchbox kit. There and then I purchased a Wild willy 2 kit for my youngest daughter, and have spent a very happy few weeks building this together (she's now the coolest kid on the street).

Anyway, cutting a long story short, I've jumped in with both feet, and got a job lot purchase on eBay of a vintage Hotshot 1 & Fox. Unfortunately, my Grasshopper 1 from the 80s has long since vanished, so am keeping an eye out to complete my mini collection...
I'm looking forward to many happy hours over the winter restoring these beauties!

Cheers. Had my eye on the hotshot, so the Fox came as a bit of a bonus. Condition not great, but whilst I want to get it back to original spec, so not too worried about using nova fox replacements. As I also plan you occasionally run it, I’ll be fitting it with esc.

Hi, I bought a HotShot when it came out in the mid 80's ( still got it ) and I put an ESC in it from the start. So there's no worries about doing that. It's even easier now, I remember having to put the receiver where the driver head should have gone because my ESC was so big in those days.
Still got those as well. One's from Demon the other is just a big black lump.
I've still the got the original MSC which is in immaculate unused condition.

Enjoy restoring it. Great car.

Ah, the Hotshot was well out of my reach in the 80s. 30 years later, I can now tick this one off my bucket list :)
Interestingly, the one I've just picked up off ebay has a similar ESC setup, which is quite large and wrapped in a black balloon? As it's out of sight I'm going to replace it for the smaller TBLE-02 as don't plan to run anything bigger than a 540 brushed motor.

Good idea, I plan on doing the same when I get round to restoring mine.
Then the drivers head can finally go back where it’s supposed to.
