No cats at the moment, but here's Holly at a friend's house, fascinated by their goldfish

Cars - a few of those, mostly piles of junk from my youth (chronologically, more or less and many owned simultaniously):
Datsun Cherry 100A - first car
Alfasud 1.5SC (when insurance for 19 year-olds was cheap!)
Triumph Spitfire (restored this and kept it for over 10 years)
Hillman Avenger (Bought while the Spit was in the garage. Got written off while parked outside my student digs in Sheffield by a hit and run)
Ford Cortina 1.6L (great car. Noisy diff but just kept on going and mega-cheap to fix. Tarted it up and sold it for a profit)
Vauxhall Viva HC 2300SL estate (very rare)
Ford Escort MKII Popular (bought to convert into a rally car. Never happened)
Vauxhall Victor FE 3300 estate (even rarer - and good for surprising boy racers, in a straight line)
VW Golf 1.3 MKI (bought from my sister for

I like Vivas... there's a guy around here who's got one of the Magnum versions, I want it!
Yep, had a Fiesta too, but mine was a mk2 XR2. Hilarious car!
Had a Datsun 720 KingCab for a bit, got me in loads of trouble! The last straw was in the snow xmas 2001 - a road sign, 5x small conifers & a rockery, finished up in some bloke's garden... missed the caravan though!
Best wagon I've had so far had to be my mk2 Hilux, it was my best friend & I loved it to death, literally. Got a vid somewhere of me wading 1/4 mile in 3ft of water, from Ten Mile Bank to Welney during the annual flooding

Yeah, that one had the twin carb 2300cc slant four out of the Magnum in it, but it had the standard SL body. Quite a Q car.
I was actually looking for a MKII XR2 when I bought the Lancia  The Monza was too thirsty and becoming unreliable and I wanted something cheap but slightly interesting to replace it.
The Victor was an interesting car. I was basically a Ventora Estate mechanically but was built as a Victor 3.3. It was owned by the secretary of the VX4/90 Drivers Club and he had fitted VX4/90 lights, seats, grill and rostyle wheels. He also made custom badges billing it as a VX6/140. It had a lazy long stroke straight six with overdrive gearbox and would sit at 90mph plus all day (at about 2500 rpm :) ). It was utterly reliable and never let me down. We even chased the RAC rally in it (1200 miles in 3 days in a 25 year old car). Sleeping in it in Kielder Forest when it was -13'C outside was insteresting. Had to scrape the ice off the inside of the windows.

A mate of mine had a couple of Viva Sportshatches (Magnum estate with the "droop snoot" front)
and a tuned Chevette HS (mind buggeringly fast - twin 48 dellortos, sideways in 1st, 2nd and 3rd)

I'm sorry to report that my cat Ole died the 8th this month due liever sickness.
He was getting better, but after some time he would throw up from the medicine, tried both fluid and pills, same result.

The day before I had plan to visit the vet for a last try with medicine shot in the neck (the type he diden't throw up from) he got blind just in a few hours, was very heartbreaking to see.
The next day I had to put him to sleep, the hardest thing I've done yet, I loved him to bits!!

Happy days

As I'm single and have lived with Ole the last 5.5 years, it felt completly empty and too quiet at home.
So last Saturday I collected my new fella, and gave him a proper name, Capri
He is 7 months old and puuurs like a lion :woohoo:

Some pics

And some surpriced look

So happy days again :woohoo:

Sad to hear about Ole. I've had my heart broken like that too... :(

But Capri looks super cute!

This is my little friend from the neighbourhood...
He does belong to a family but he decided to be more of a friend to many, hanging out at other houses.
Vet had to amputate one of his ears because it was quite horrendously infected (probably territorial fights).
I feed him a variety of white fish now and then.

Little kid of the family he originally (and still sorta) belongs to named him Kweetnie - translating more or less to Dunno (probably the answer to the question what he wanted to name him).

Seeing this thread again made me sad :(

A few months after this photo was taken, Holly was taken ill and had to be put to sleep. She had cancer.

But life goes on and we now have a new member of the family (well he's been with us for over a year now). Meet Monty.

As you can see he is completely soppy. He is currently lying on the sofa with his legs in the air.
We got him from a rescue charity a couple of weeks after Holly died. People can't believe he is a rescue dog because he is so handsome and well-adjusted.
