Thanks, I was meaning the name for the special oil to cut the threads though. ;) :y:
"Thread cutting oil" gives some more results (but nothing affordable).
Just need a small amount (maybe 100ml) for a few bucks (only saw expensive gallons of the stuff so far).
I think it is very specific and there probably isn't an alternative oil I can use (?)...

Already noticed it won't be easy to do without clamping the rod down into a vice.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem mate :)

Got to admit I don't use anything on Aluminium, brass or plastics ... steel might get a drop of 3-In-One oil if it's lucky, or whatever else is handy

Thanks, guys. I was using WD-40 and was contemplating on having a go at it with bike chain oil...
But a few of the members on the Dutch Tamiya forum convinced me to get oil meant for this purpose.
Something to do with none-lubricant qualities and removing the metal chips...
Although I think it plays less of a role when threading by hand.
One of them also mentioned the grease, Andy.:y:
But that's a little over budget and I might anger the carbon footprint gods with it.

Found some specific oil from a local webstore :

www.eriqon.nl/c...00ml_.html

It is actually nearby enough to go and pick up (shipping is 2,50)... about a 40km bike ride back and forth though.
But I'm considering it anyway because this looks good for the price as well (but much less interesting to ship) :

I'd have to fix the gear shifter on my bike first.

Another thing... why don't even the specialist tool shops sell 5.5mm combination spanners?

They all start at 6mm while the size for an M3 nut is 5.5...

Yep, I know. I saw them on eBay plenty but I would have expected that one of the specialists around here would have it too.
I try to avoid an internet purchase whenever I can...
But surprisingly enough nobody had it. And it's a pretty big city (to us over here at least).

I'll save my money for a vice that I could fit on my drill standard by the way.
And I'll improvise in the meantime...

Meaning I won't be using my bike for the threading oil. :silly:
