Jeep Wrangler Sahara "Jurassic Park" 7 years 1 month ago #42438

after firstly watching "Jurassic World" and then the Jurassic Park saga got 2 troughs.

1.- There's no way a Jeep left on the island for 25 Years is going to crank with just a toolbox.
2.- If a Jeep can do that perhaps it's time to recreate it at 1/10 scale over the jeep wrangler by tamiya.

so, decided to post updates here.

First things first, found that The Tamiya Wrangler was basically 'stalinized' about 5 years ago.

My idea don't go for forking out 700€ for a Tamiya original and mod it.

Hinges more on using the assembly Kit for the pajero (that currently is dust cheap) but insted of the lexan pajero body I'll use a proper wrangler body that would be a mix of proper parts plus imagination for the unavailable ones (trees J,K,H plus body) not too tough.

Painting:

I don't simpatise with Dennis "Edible" Nedry motivations, but the only Jeep that had roof of any kind was his, adding to the trouble list making a metal-top look like canvas but it's feasible. the colour was called by gm "Sand beige" dunno how to make it, perhaps mixing 70-30 "German sand" plus Aluminium could be a good base. Red looks like a Porsche red. EDIT: Vallejo's Sand grey looks like taking the cake on this.

Decals, plenty of logos, but the number 12 of Nedry's Jeep is too concrete for it to exist decals, but again, nothing that can't be stencilled.

Extra parts:

Winch:
The jeeps had 500lb E-winches the idea is picking a random working winch, mod it so won't require a channel, mod it to look like on the movie and assemble on the bumper.

Rims: the Wrangler Sahara had special alloy 5 spoke wheels, not unlike your basic speedlines any Rallycar used on last 20 years.

For the "bikini", You should better cut a wrangler body, put arches and do a web bikini. And for the winch, 3racing make one cheap and easy to use. by a switch or by a channel. Maybe you could find a toy body to make scratch???? and cheaper than a tamiya ;)

Well, do those www.rcgeeks.co....l-set-4pcs wheels featuring a lot of numbers and words could fit on tamiya wrangler tyres? because if yes, it would solve tyre issue nicely, because minus the logo of "Jeep" are the spitting image of a 92 Jeep Wrangler sahara rims.

today got both, body and J,H part trees, sparkling new. For the body, idea is to brush some white spirit on roof so it looks cavasy plus applying some gauze so it transfers a canvas effect.

Besides, today knew #12 jeep, had an arc of lights on roof that could move, idea, so I keep it a 2ch deal, is to assemble 2 servos on steering channel, the second, assembled on the roof would work a piano wire and the roof-lights when you steer (Also I can place a switch to kill that servo, so it just steer normally)

Nice idea. But for the roof you can apply a thin layer of buff. Like a primer and after, aplly your gauze, maintain it and paint on it with anorher buff layer. Remove the gauze before hard dryinf of the paint. Or glue directly a piece of web with a glue in spray and paint it. That will be more realistic.

accepting your roof suggestions, BTW just found that Prerunner Rims are the most accurate to Sahara rims, also those are the rims that come with the mitsubishi pajero that is currently the cheapest way to own a CC01.

:y: You are right. These rims are very nice and realistics.
For your roof use an old T shirt to have a good texture ;)
