I think it was stingray that advocated the use of "speed discs" on the Lunchkin wheels (apologies if it was someone else, I couldn't find the post).

I wasn't convinced at first, but now the idea has fermented for a couple of weeks, I like the idea. These will take the form of two parts, the first being a 1.5mm disc of 51mm O/D with a homemade 14mm I/D, 45mm long tube in the centre, all permanently bonded to the wheel, access to the wheelnut (& bearing on the fronts) via the tube/7mm box spanner.
The second part will be a 25mm O/D disc with a locating boss to plug the hole. Initially I thought of using M2 & M3 screws to make a scale version of the 1:1 wheel bolts, but that would mean 19 M2 screws per wheel (152 in total) so I'll use small hex form styrene instead & just use 3 M3 screws per wheel, which is a lot more reasonable if a wheel nut needs tightening.

No pics as my rough sketches are _really_ rough ;)

Having fitted the seats & driver, the jumbo steering wheel won't fit unless I put it in at a much steeper angle than I'd like , so I've started on a smaller one (49mm O/D).

Fantastic skills, all self taught or do you have a work history in modelling?

You should be working for tamiya & making lots of money. :)

Just the inevitable 1:72 aircraft kits as a child - everything else I guess is selt taught over the last 7 years or so :)

I gues there are a few people making lots of money from RC - but I'm sure Tamiyas designers aren't among them ;)

Not entirely waht I had in mind, but I've made some progress with the "speed" discs... the two shown fitted a held on by compression of the tube over the bearing holder so i still have to strip the chrome/paint & glue them on, but you get the idea: undoing 3 M2 screws releases the hub cap & a modified box spanner gives access through the tube to the wheel nut proper.

:)

Some more progress:

- air horns (from Sand Scorcher exhausts) and blackout light (from Hornet driving light) (just on the driver's side (left));
- fuel tank (other side is a mirror image);
- exhaust (same on other side);
- side marker light ( " ).
