Hey Mr. Retro,
I too like the resin idea, keeping it clean and the correct shape....very smart indeed
It reminds me of a trick my armor modeling friends do to make tarps and bed rolls out of tissue soaked in watered down glue, very effective too.
I might need to try one of these tops on my next Willy :)

Very minor progress... primer really shows up the way the resin lifts the grain. Sanded it back & now thinking about what base colours to airbrush - Buff for the body but thinking that will be too light for the roof in one colour, so maybe something darker?

Hey,
Given the origins of the Wild Willy I would suggest that old army standard of olive green for the canvas. Perhaps applied unevenly with an airbrush so it would have some tonal variations, you know....... sun fading and such.......

Jonny you can take the gas mask bag for example for your roof. My friend's roof is an original 1943 and has aproximately the same color.
Or the leg bag under it.

Long time since I touched this, but the base colours are on the body parts - airbrushed Buff, Olive Drab and NOS Bottle Blue :)
