Hey Mr. Retro,
I too like the resin idea, keeping it clean and the correct shape....very smart indeed
It reminds me of a trick my armor modeling friends do to make tarps and bed rolls out of tissue soaked in watered down glue, very effective too.
I might need to try one of these tops on my next Willy

Sanded it back & now thinking about what base colours to airbrush - Buff for the body but thinking that will be too light for the roof in one colour, so maybe something darker? Attachments:

Perhaps applied unevenly with an airbrush so it would have some tonal variations, you know....... sun fading and such.......
