I see your Willy has a purple helmet :D

Nice work - that's quite a save from the shed you started with :y:

Cheers guys!
Yes Jonny, it seemed only fitting when the missus pointed at the purple paint & announced she wanted to make my Willy's helmet purple. I somehow knew you'd be first to spot that!

So, should we worry that the rest of your Willy turned out blue?

Maybe the belt is too tight...

Great case of an "ugly duckling" turning into a good looking swan. :y:

It's not a swan Edou, it's a willy.... swans have feathers.
Yeah Waterbok, his eyes are a bit of a giveaway that there's some kind of strain going on there, maybe someone's been strangling him?

In my language the word for (damper) spring is actually the same as that for feather - " veer ". :silly:

Thrashed my Willy around the front room last night & was rather disappointed with the lack of wheelies & speed. I was about to put it down to the cica '79 battery I was using, then noticed that the motor & wiring was getting alarmingly hot! The motor spindle turns nice & freely, but the magnets are seriously lacking in magnetism. I also noticed the commutator was a bit dark in colour. Didn't want to have to mess about removing the press-fit pinion again & didn't really want to replace the motor either as it's an original one. Started thinking about rebuilding the motor with parts from a good modern one, then thought I'd try giving it an underwater run first, just as an easy last-ditch attempt to give it more life.
A minute's-worth of sploshing about under power in the sink seems to have done the trick, although still not perfect, it's loads better now!
