The fun thing is that this 3 speed is similar to the blazer but totally different. Steel instead of aloy Shocks and harder bf style tires.

The only thing the Bruiser has in common with the early 3-speeds are the axle cases. The 1985 3-speeder it's a complete new RC vehicle, even the gearboxes are different. On the historic side, with the Bruiser Tamiya come up with a standard for the RC industry with the 2.2 wheels.

I’m not 100% sure on these ,but at some point they added the above slipper mechanism to the main spur gear.
Looking at the manual for the gear box that someone put together.

Flo, I just got in a bunch of gear box bits I bought.
So either someone getting creative or it’s getting passed along.
So it can go in my junk box.

It looks like an avante sprue. Maybe this gear has been taken from another rc wich had a slipper. Tamiya loves recycle parts.
