Datsun 280 ZX Resto 3 years 10 months ago #60366

Hi all,
Since I'm on my Lexan building streak, I figured it was time to tackle that 280 ZX that's been sitting on my shelf for a long time.
I bought it in this condition, the assembly manual is original but the box wasn't in the lot.
The chassis is in good condition and the body is unfortunately not the original one but the one of the M05 chassis. At least it's a Tamiya one.

Here's how I received it:

The body was already cut by the previous owner, luckily it's well done!

So I started by degreasing it and masking all the parts. I decided to start by painting the parts in red.

Once all the parts have been masked, it's time to move on to painting.

After a few coats of PS2 I waited 1 day to dry and then removed the masking tape.

It's time to switch to the blue PS4. I found myself in a dilemma.
I took a good look at the assembly manual, looked at the pictures of the existing models (thanks for your model Lars) and the car the box.

On the box there is clearly a white line around the front window but not on the manual. I thought I should try to reproduce this line.
I knew it wouldn't be easy to do it, but I decided to take up the challenge!

Time will tell if I was right to follow that challenge... or not....

The body is now ready for the PS4 coat.

I'm looking forward to spending some time masking up bodies to paint as nice as you have :)
If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem mate :)

Thanks guys !

Managed to finish the paint with the whit this morning.
Just unmasked all the parts now and here's the rough result. The protective film is still on the body and i'll start painting the details soon.
