Yes this one is perfect. I still have some of it. And I love it.

Yesterday and today I made the final pieces for my magnet body mounts.
The front mount is now a L steel bracket with a styrene piece to guide the 6mm magnets mounted on the body. Rear is still the same aluminium braket with a steel bit on the end. As front I used a styrene bit as a guide over that. As this is going to be an on road warrior, I cut the front spoiler all the down to the flat edge, and that edge became a splitter. This is exactly how I wanted it to be The front wheels was then changed from -6 offset to -3 to be able to steer. The 6mm wheels sat tight to the body, perfect when I made the body mounts. Wheels and tires are HPI MX60 as I think the M chassis ones looks too small. |

Yep those days are long gone.
In 90s a mate of my brother had a RS2000 (the one with angled nosecone) with X-pack (wide arches) and the 7.5x13 RS wheels with those Recaro seats. Think he paid 1500 quid or something like that. In 94' I bought my 3.0S Capri with X-pack (genuine fitted by Ford dealership when it was less than a year old), 15" RS wheels (same as Capri 280), Turbo rear spoiler and it had LSD diff. Cost me less than £2000. It was near perfect. Today the same car would have cost about 18k. I agree the new wheels fills the arches well, my main reason was that and the wheels size. Regular touring wheels would have been far too big, like bolting on some 20" wheels in real life with 50 profile rubber. Thank you!

I found these pictures today and it is about what I had in mind for the Escort regarding paint color and details.
I picked up a can of AS-27 Gunship Gray 2 many months ago when I started this project. And yes, I'm painting this over lexan, but with PS-55 Flat Clear first which acts as a primer for the non lexan paint. A trick I took from Hemistorm. My trail Axial Hot Rod is painted this way about 5 years ago, and not a singel flake of paint has come off yet. This is mostly used when you can't find the color you want in PS paint.. Earlier this afternoon.. |

All painted
Just placed on the wheels Tomorrow I will take a trip to my lhs and get some bits including some bolts for the bodymounts. Forecasted 27C tomorrow which is too hot for me so I might do some hobby work instead. I plan on using very few decals on this. In fact all the window trim is painted this time, which is a first for me. Some window decals just do not look right at all. And they tend not stick very well after some time if there is some compound curves around the windows. And in this case I wanted all black window trim/rubber. I used TS-29 Semi Gloss Black. And I have a plan for the windows. Hint I'm not fond of window tint spray.. |
