Light is good.

Today I made this contraption.

And what is it????
It is a narrow casette that will hold my metal plates and other large bits like sheets of stuff etc.
Due to the narrow design, it would be hard to get things down in the casette so I made one side openable.
Where the bars are will be the location for allthreads, rods and tubes etc.

And it fits here between my shelf systems.
The center piece is 90mm wide with 3mm MDF sheet one each side as it was the cheapest sheet I could find of anything.
Needed to be thin to not eat up the limited space.
The bottom is 50cm wide and the casette is 80cm tall.

And I made it moveable with these cute "transport wheels" that are only 15mm tall.

To lock the lid I simply used a long M3 bolt and one of the TLT link brackets on the lid side.

My first paint project in my new workshop.
I was given this welcome sign which was plain white.

I'm using Tamiya paint, so hopefully they will stick to the wood.
The inlay will be black so I was not to concern going over the edges.
Finally it will have some clear coat to reatain the finish

Over the weekend I wanted to lift my workbench as I was sitting a bit cramped and there was no legroom to sit comfy.
So I bought eight of these table legs which are 10cm in hight. The ones I wanted at Ikea was only one set in stock, and I needed two.

First I had to remove all my tuff from my bench

And the legs fitted.
The fact my table top is in 2 pices came handy as it was completly impossible to fit it with the legs attached.
I used a piece of 1.2mm steel plate to join the two table ends together.
Had to use a 1/4" ratchet wrench with bits holder to screw them together, with a abnormal uncomfy composition of my body. But it worked.

Bonus now I have extra storage area on  top of the cabinets.

And back to work able space again.
Lost a bit storage space over the table top, but gained under.
Most of the bits from before still found somewhere to go after a bit joggling
My workbench is now 82cm above the floor, maybe a tad too high, but much much better than before.

Sorry about the blury pictures, but you get the idea.

Now I can go back and work more comfy.

Today I started on my scale garage which this thread was intended for.
My tools did not cut straight so that made extra work for me.
After this pictures I was taken I had to file and cut to make it more true.

Garage measure 86cm wide, 40cm deep and 31cm high on the outside.
I have used 6mm MDF.

For scale ref, here is some different cars. My current Escort build

Blackfoot obviously

And my Zakspeed Capri

Tomorrow I will start to glue the floor to the sides
Not sure on how I'm gonna secure the top to base yet, but I do have some small 3x2mm magnets.
The 6mm MDF is too porous I think to fit the magnets on the side so I may have to use some beams to hold them, time will show.

A start anyway...

On Wednesday I glued the pieces together.
Yesterday I laid one coat of basecoat so you will not see the wood behind the planks when I'm finished.
Today I bougth a 3kg pack of wood strips at 260x15x3mm for about a tenner.
Was the cheapest option for "planks"
This should do most of the walls and floor, if not all.

The walls are 29cm high so the planks won't reach all the way up, so I might make a "concrete" base at the bottom.
Not sure about wood colors. but think floor is going to be lighter than walls and door.
Frame beams I think is going to be black ish..

For lights I'm going for warm white to make it a bit cosey.
I have loads of 12v minature bulbs, which may going to be work lamps.
For the roof lamps I might go for COB beams and build them like light amatures.

I need to google a bit for what design I want, but I know I want it to be dark ish barn ish theme.
