I've had most of a re-release Sand Scorcher body kicking around for a while after hacking the bonnet off to use on my "Blue Max" project (
here
), for a wjile I've been thinking it would be good to do something with it - to make it look like a Beetle that's had sort parts scavenged off it & languished unloved under a tarpaulin, and to capture the movement the cover comes off...
Looking through my spares heap, I also found the main portion of the Scorcher glass, rear lights (both white and clear lenses), a pair of used re-re license plates, re-re headlamp chrome (minus the lenses), Blitzer Beetle wipers, a vintage sunroof panel, a single vintage front indicator/lens, re-re mirrors (one broken), a re-re license palte light/cover, and a panel to convert the rear window to the split type ... What I've done so far: - sand off the lines on the wheelarches & cut off the abbreviated engine cover (empty engine bay to go in later); - used the fake window split panel (which was a really poor fit, I don't remember it being that bad when I bought it) as a template & fiited my own; - Dremelled out the rear lights & fitted them, + the sunroof & wipers; - started on the front underbonnet structure (lots more details/filling/smoothing/sanding to do); - taken several mm off the bottom of the window glass so I can do something to the interior - I'm not sure whether to add door cards/seats, or go for a more stripped out look. |

Working on the floor; I know the front isn't supposed to be pointy, but I'm not sure quite how short I need to cut if off just yet. Multiple strips of tape are just there to make a template to cut out the right shape on flat sheet:
Also working on the engine bay (etc) structure at the back: Lots more detail type stuff to yet to do ...

Fiddly compound bits for the floor:
Floor complete (apart from the axle holdy bits at each end): Underside detail - unnecessary, but I couldn't _not_ do it after seeing frog66's excellent work (www.tamiyabase....d?start=50): Detail layer on the rear end:
