Since the forums I used to post onto is all gone, I'm thinking of posting some of my old builds here.
First up is my Mk3 Capri build. I got the 58149 Mini Cooper of one of my friends, complete but without body. As I found out the M02 variant uses most of the parts of the M01, and since I do like RWD a lot more than FWD, I converted the chassis to M02 spec. I can't find pictures of the conversion, but I built it like this with styrene center piece because reasons explained later. Now, the body.... I wanted to build a Ford Capri Mk3, and back in 08', the only choice was the Kamtec 1:12 Banger body. Not much details on that body, but I had a plan.. The body is it came from Kamtec The first problem was the wheelbase as seen here More clearly here as the rear is in the center After making a new center piece for the chassis, the next task was to cut the wheelarches and I also cut the lover part of the body as it's nowhere close to the orginal Capri The real Capri looks like this, and I wanted to make the Ford Motorsport Spoiler on the front and the Turbotail rear wing as the closest to the camera. More clear picture of the front spoiler And the rear spoiler in profile For paint I wanted Signal Orange like on this x-pack arched Capri To reminder how wrong the bottom shape is of the body, here is how it comes from Kamtec I made it look like this Start on the front bumper and spoiler. Spoiler was not easy as it angles at the rear and have a angled lip to it. Started to get a bit more correct look Start of the Turbotail spoiler (these was fitted to the 81'-82' Wërksturbo Capri with X-pack wide arches and 2.8 carb'd Turbo engine with 188hp) Be kind as it was one of my first styrene projects.. |

Woohaaaa ! Awesome Richard. I love it. The capri is one of my favorite ford. My dad had a mk1 escort, a tonus and a orion mk1. My daily car is a 2010 focus. My first ford and very happy of it.

Start of the bumper end caps.
And rear bumper end caps. Today I would have done the rear valance differntly Front body mount. Kind of like the TamTech Gear Countach Chassis side How it works. Rear body mounts was a simple welcro one. Looks a bit strange at some angles as proptions are a bit off Then it was time to paint Detailing the bumper Rear lights like the real one, in angled sections Even made exhaust pipes Next will be how it looks today, a bit sorry for itself as the front body mount have broken. so has one of the sides and some other stuff. |
