This third build has left the "blue" chassis in pieces and missing quite a few parts :

And the FRP car with a bit of a limb... :S

I needed the wheel axles from that one. But that gives me another idea for a (small) upgrade.
The axles from the CR-01 should also fit and these are hardened steel... B)

Progress! Because I swiftly received some 6mm ball nuts from a Dutch forum member to mount the shocks. :cheer:

Couple of seconds of caustic soda :

New look on the rear - technically a much better setup :

Da front shock tower :

Almost done now :

If it's lack of feedback, sorry about that :)

I read the posts, I just don't reply "ooh!" and "ahh!" to all of them ;)

Definitely not about (a lack of) feedback, guys. ;)
Something else has been going on that's put a lid on the enjoyment I get from making an effort altogether.
I don't wish to go into more detail but I think I'll be going off line for a while.

Thanks for the support, waterbok. I will finish what I started... And thanks Lars and Jonny for taking an interest. :)
Hope the other viewers will keep finding good info here. And think it's a bit entertaining at least too.

Guess that quarter didn't drop. Luckily there are many good guys that get what this site should be about...

I thought the blue wheel hexes were the only thing left that didn't really match so I tried to anodise them gunmetal today.
But I think I need a new approach to the process, going from a "constant voltage" to a "constant current" setup.
Taking off the blue first :

Mmm... definitely different kinds of aluminium that appear after the caustic soda bath :

But I have to say they were anodised well. The surface was very smooth and it wasn't that easy to get all the colour off.
Shows what practical use this process can have for aluminium.

I also put in some wheel nuts and made a rack of aluminium wire to hang all the parts on when going in the acid bath :

I thought I saw an okay current (the anodisation going on) but that turned out to be generated by the wire mostly.
If all aluminium were like that, I'd have no trouble at all colouring parts...
But this little project didn't have the result I went for :

So I cleaned them (caustically) once more and immediately boiled them in sealer afterwards.
After a bit of a polish and WD-40, the end result is a set of silver aluminium hexes that fit the car quite nicely after all.

I've also taken off the stickers from the wing and gave that some black paint today.
That should look much better... and stand out against the silver-blue body :

:)
