The Axials are great, they have a grub screw that can be tightened on the axle. :)

On the other hand, those CPVs are a piece of badword because the screw hole has been threaded all the way.
This means they can't be tightened (the screw 's sole purpose in the first place) unless you drill out one side.

Taking the quest a step beyond...
After building a DF-01 as off road as it can get, I will now visit the other side of the spectrum.
There was something I knew but had not fully realised...
The wheelbases of a DF-01 scaler (like the Humvee) are the same a that of a Group C car.
So I will merge several ongoing quests and put a C11 and R91CP body on a DF-01 chassis!
Closer to the original nature of a race car though - there will be no main drive shaft in it... a RWD.
Gonna have to "borrow" some parts from the Top Force build.
And it will be getting a home made FRP chassis...

The shock tower could be to high to put the C-Class Body on the ta01

Custom made FRP shock towers, extra short shocks and no top lid on the front gearbox (there will be no gears there). :side:

I could gear it very high low as well (like a racer) because there will be a lot less inner resistance as a RWD. :)
Putting a ball diff in front so I'm not just gonna do donuts...

Change of plan when it comes to the on road category...
Keeping the basic idea the same - RWD very low geared rapid TA chassis.
But it seems I'll be able to trade for the most awesome shell created for this lineage :

:woohoo:

No hesitation to let go of a buggy shell for this one...
So it's not gonna be a long Group C DF, I'll create a custom FRP Formula chassis for that (much like the F103L).
But the future is - an ultra short wheelbase Überelfer!

Gonna have to make some peculiar chassis plates...
A Group C would actually have been a lot easier, that should fit straight on a DF-01 scaler (when it comes to wheelbase).
Now (using the same suspension arm setup) the chassis will have to be about 40-45mm shorter.

A Taisan normally sits on a TA02 chassis (20mm less wheelbase length than DF and TA01), with different rear arms...
The latter accounts for another 20-25mm shortening.
With the Humvee's TA02 suspension arms on my build, I will have to account for this as well.
Resulting in a couple of very short chassis plates.
But I'm foreseeing more complications, since I'll be crossing over into TA02 territory.
A quest it is indeed.

Only buggy shell left for this quest now (cut out already) :

Getting the urge to "borrow" most of the alloy parts from the FRP chassis for the on road build.
Make it one bad... Black Porsche!
With the 17T LRP geared low its should run like mad.
That motor suits a Zuffenhausener well, I happen to know the Porsche and LRP factory are very near each other.

 :cheer:
