Dirt Thrasher alloy parts question 11 years 7 months ago #13650

I have an old Dirt Thrasher that I'm planning on getting on the road again and want to add some necessary alloy parts. I plan on running an HPI Firebolt 15T motor. It looks like a motor mount and driveshaft from Asiatees are definately in order. Are there any other recommended add-ons like steering knuckles etc? I only want to get things that are key to durability, not flashy looks. Thanks for any insight.

just have a look at some of the manta ray and top force threads you will find all you need there.
but in short, steel pinion, ball bearings, alum. motor mount, alum. wheel hexes, strengthened drive shaft should do the trick for starters.

Waterbok made a good summary of the best basic upgrades. :y:
You could also check if the rear gearbox cover is still in good condition...
And not deformed like this one :

Common flaw on some vintage cars that could lead to some trouble...
Got a nice home made solution for it myself :
