Hi everybody
I just bought a new super modified 11 T motor but I’m not sure what to use to run it.  All my cars are vintage and run on Manualspeedcontrollers msc . I do not know therefore how to get the 11 T motor running or what I need exactly like a CPR unit (which I’ve never used) or an Esc. Do I need both or do I need to combine them? I have no idea…

Can someone help me buy telling me exactly what I need to purchase to use use the engine?
thanks and best regards
Matt

From what I've researched, it's the resistor that will likely pop, especially if trying to buzz around in anything less than full throttle.

Specs for the P-160F CPR are 12T or higher.

I like to run as vintage as possible if the car isn't a re-re, so I'd likely shop around for a period correct ESC to use the 11T.

Matt to use a 11t motor, you need an esc. One wich supports 11t or less .  Avoid all tamiya esc and cpr units. You can find some intersting esc on the web.

Thanks guys!
I’ll try running it on the msc see what happens.
Otherwise I’ll try finding an esc that can support 11T because the cpr unit 160f only goes as far as 12T…
Strange that Tamiya puts out such a motor without apparently telling you exactly how to run it. I have the instructions to the engine I’ll see if I missed something out but it’s unlikely.
thanks again guys and if anything comes to mind let me know please. I’ll keep you posted as soon as I find progress.

Cheers!

I’ll try looking for a period correct esc if I find one.

It's getting hard to find brushed ESCs that will handle low turn motors these days.  The Hobbywing 1060 isn't strong enough.  Yeah Racing has one rated for 80A that would probably work.  I used it for my Pink Acto Power motor, but I've never had one of the Super Modifieds.

Traxxas had one called the XL-10 that went down to 10 turn which is no longer available, but you may be able to find one.

Vintage Tekin 411G has no motor limit.
That will fit the bill nicely

Try the mtronics viper. It's unlimited in turns from what I remember. And it has the backward speed.
