Wild Willy head light tabs 11 years 1 week ago #20623

I am in the process of restoring a WW1. The little guy has seen better days, but come what may, it will live again.

One of the problems was that the head light tabs to locate them were broken off. I could just glue them on, but that would not be proper. I'll let the pics do the rest of the talking.

I used a hole punch to get the right size pieces.

I used some off cut styrene I had lying around.

The lights had no tabs, just lots of glue that needed to be sanded down.

I simply glued the tabs in place with a strong instant glue. There were still some marks from the old tabs to guide me.

There you go! Lights fittet the proper way.

Another problem I found with the WW1 was how weak the grill was. As the winch is mounted to the grill, it puts strain on an already weak part. I used some styrene to make a spacer between the grill and the radiator. Since I already had to make mountings for the winch as they were broken off years ago I decided to fit long mounting screws from behind the radiator into the winch.
