Now I'm thinking the C11 body might be from the reissue...
Any way to tell the difference?

Btw - calling dibs on the wing support! ;)

If this is from the reissue then I guess I didn't get the best bargain.
What I have then is a good looking non-vintage shell and a pretty bashed chassis.
Overcoming enthusiasm, I can not deny this conclusion :

It stays a cool car and a new chassis will do wonders, but still...
Remember the ones I sent through were in much better shape. ;)

Edit : gonna get that pristine chassis! :side:

nice car! love the bodyshell B)

why bother with a new chassis? if you intend to run it it will just end up the same again. i have seen a lot worse runners than this.

id keep it as is and run it carefully.....running is where the pleasure is in the hobby.:)

very cool car

Sorry Lars, gonna tease you with Spitfire's NSX a little since they had the same owner ;) :

That is not fair...
Luckily I have a NIB bodyset, so I just need to chase down a good chassis B)

I don't know of any certain way to tell a prepainted-reissue shell from the original one.
My suspect, the F40 shell, looks way to "neat" to be "home-made". The paint is evenly applied, and in a thinner coat than any home-made ones I have seen.
Also the masking and decaling looks flawless.

Either a very good builder, or... prepainted...

Very curious how it really sticks together... ;)

The C11 has been painted well but there are some minor flaws that a factory finished car might not have.
For example the cutting lines are not completely straight at some places and a small spot got painted a little thick.
I know the boyfriend from the girl that sold the cars has a painting business so he'd probably be able to do a good job at it.

That's true of course. :)
Still contemplating what I'm gonna do exactly. If the body is the original one, I'll find another one to run the car with.
I'll then keep this body in good shape and build a new pristine chassis for it in the long run...
Would be kind of cool to have a vintage shelfer too. :pinch:

Already saw the C11 can also be hop upped too with (mostly) F chassis parts.
Luckily not as much as a DF01 or TA01/TA02...
Cause that could bring on another hop up mania! :)

I think I'll just give this project some time.
Had some other builds that came first anyway - finish the Manta Ray and then a vintage Grasshopper for new budget. ;)

Apart from the scratches on the chassis, the C11 is still

I called the guy (Jos from Utrecht) we thought the cars originally came from.
Seems that they were not his...

Tried to find out about the F40 body and the C11 but he could not answer my questions. :S
The search for info is not over yet though. ;)

I have noticed that my F40 also has the black differential gear. So I have concluded it is a reissue.

Oh well, you win some, and you loose some

Re: Two Group C's just arrived from Holland 12 years 10 months ago #1599

Could this spur gear possibly be a 99T (aftermarket) hop up?
If the car is a reissue then there's been some manipulation at play - because of the red A parts.

Edit - still have some pics of the cars. Looks like the whole diff is dark - is that an indication it's a reissue?
On the picture, the F40 chassis does look newer than the 300ZX.

Think I might send a complaint about the seller to "Marktplaats" for the principle. ;)

The black supr gear is actually 63T (if I counted them right), the original white is 70T.
After reading on the net I guess the spur is a F103 spur, which aparently fit.

So, maybe not a reisuue anyway?

If anyone has a reissue Group C: Please check the stamp inside the tub. It will probably say something about "C11 1990" but maybe also some marking identifying the type of plastic used? This marking is a requirement now because of recycling, but was not on the orignal models.
