For a Quick Drive Tamiya I suggest full ball bearings all around, some oil shocks and a decent motor.
At first I suggest to replace all electronic with some 1/10 one, servo saver, radio transmitter and receiver, esc.
Then with some modifications and a little bit of work I'll mount a Grasshopper 380 motor instead of original 280.

The difference in performance is made by the esc and the receiver.

I remember I modified (when I was young) a Nikko Dictator (dual 380 motor 4WD 1/10 scale) with a "modern" radio gear and esc and believe me that Dictator was faster than the Thunder Shot.

I received my QD yesterday evening but it doesn't want to run. Like if it was without batteries.
The remote has its led lighted but for the car???
Some advices please. I fall in love with my new minimidnight

mmm common problem with the older QDs the electronics.

test the remote with another car with 27am receiver and the MP with another 27am remote, oh and first try if the cristals are still ok.

think you have another 27am lying around somewhere.

if the electronics are broke you can replace it, servo is standard servo size.

mine was broken too





you have to cut off the sides of the servo and press it into the front axle.

TOO NICE your mini beetle. I love it.
For my MP they are a lot of false "contacts". But I begin to want to make a small collection.

The Beetle arrived, and the electronics still work

Some cleaning awaits mostly 20+ years of dust.
Notice the ceramic grease residu in the gearboxes thats Tamiya for you.
