It was Nuremberg toy fair this week. I think this is Tamiya’s strongest showing for a while. Okay so no Blazing Blazer or Porsche 959. But personally I’m interested in a few of these. I definitely want the Fiat Abarth. The Golf looks good and the BBX seems to have created quite a buzz on various forums and sounds like it will be a great success. It feels like they’ve ripped off Knight Customs sand rail buggy, but at least it’s something new from Tamiya. I even like the sound of the Toyota Land bc Cruiser 40 on the CC-02 chassis. It looks good. What does everyone else think?? Attachments: |

I have the 1990 Celica GT FOUR pre ordered in Europe for April. Its just the tt01 chassis but I got it because I had the original issue 58096 on the TA01 chassis.

I really liked the BBX at first - I thought great, a bit of imagination on a presumably 150-180 GBP RWD buggy . I didn't quite see the point of a full sand rail frame being covered by so much bodywork, even if it looked good.
Then I saw the driver No wonder they want to hide it. _Then_ I saw mentions of the price ... I thought the early estimates were high, then I saw that Modelsport have it at no, please, stop I only have so many ribs 350 GBP www.modelsport....01-1349192. To use a baseball metaphor, it looked like Tamiya were swinging for the fences, and they were - but with a comedy size inflatable banana. The ball has then landed straight in the buttcrack of a tramp rifling through a dirty dumpster in the rough end of the car park. I genuinely like the idea of Mk.2 Golf 16v though - but I'll wait until it comes out on an M-chassis. Hopefully an FWD one |

You don’t even get a motor. But you do finally get ball bearings!!!
I think if the BBX had been around the £200 mark it would fly off the shelves. But at about £350 or more, I’d need some convincing. Let’s see if it sells at that price. I’ll be going for the Fiat and possibly the Golf.

For me the item that grabbed me was the Golf.
Not sure I'll by the whole kit, but deffently the body. And the new chassis under the Fiat is the closest we come to the 959/Celica chassis. My guess if they are going to release the 959 again, it will be on that chassis. I like the BBX retro vibe, but something is off for me, I think the tires are too chunky and it would have looked better with non chrome wheels. And like many other, that price is rediculous, and far far too expensive from what you get. Not even incuding electronics or spare tire (spare tire show in the video Tamiyaa just released) My money would rather be spent on the retro buggy Kyosho just realeased before the toy fair. But I did like the TT-02BR buggy. Loads of hop-ups included and cheaper than the BBX. |

I'm with you on the Golf, even if it's just the shell so I can paint it up full black with red accents. Oh, and in the BBX video I believe it stated that the tires are prototypes, so I wonder if well see something different upon release? IG_tamiyaddiction
