THX. those are the original tamiya FJ40 shells that come with the CR01 or CC01. red came with my used cr01 and was a little bashed up the yellow I finished last week as a replacement. Thats when I went for velcro up front, looks better without thingies sticking oot of the bonnet. |

The level of detail far exceeds what I expect from lexan shells. As far as I was concerned, lexan's for race cars & only ABS is any good for scalers, but these shells more or less show otherwise.
As far as sticky-out bits go, what about making some minature body pins, so they look like proper bonnet pins? Not a fan of magnets or velco, I've found they don't like aggressive/wet driving or shunts/rollovers!

must admit, looking at the pics of spitfires NSX and a couple of the others on here, they look fantastic but the sticky out bits on the body shells really spoil them. a much discreeter mounting option would look much better

Spose it depends what you're gonna do with your toy cars - if they're scale or display models then yeah lose the pins & body posts, but for thrashing about for as long as possible without distractive breakisms, you need something more substantial than velco or magic

I also voted for period correct
Generally though, I usually have a kit of any car I work on, so that makes it handy to check and make sure the clips you're using on a restoration of that car are what came in the original kit. To me it's all about the original kit and what that included, so the rules are simple. www.rctoymemories.com - A nostalgia site about vintage and retro radio controlled cars & other toys, from Tamiya, Nikko, Kyosho, Radio Shack and many more.
