I've responded to a add in a local paper for a Subaru Brat, the guys says its an original.I is there anyway that I can tell for sure?

I'm not sure, but I believe the reissue has a date stamp on the inside of the body. Usually on the inside of the cabin roof.
The date would say 2005 or whenever it was released.

i believe the original brat has a "locked/posi" rear end (no "differential"). also the steering servo uses a bell-crank type linkage to the tie rods where as the re-re uses a standard servo saver similar to the frog/blackfoot. check out the pics in the original manual in the downloads section to see the steering linkage. hope that helps, sorry if too late.
