I think they're bidding way too much...
Average weight of euro coin is 5.37 grams and worth 48,5 cents.
31 kilo = 5773 "coins" making about 2800 euro.
If they were all 2 euro (8.5 grams), it would be about 7300.

Or am I really missing something with this approach?

hmmm ... I'm hlaf remembering something about someone being promised 7 bushels of coins, but only being given 6 and a half, and spending the rest of their life trying to fill it, which of course they never did.

That eBay listing just seems to me a modern variation on that

Re: Bucket full of money 11 years 8 months ago #11531

Very badly, I googled a bid and found two articles about it.

The ending bid was 12.250 Euro. They got some bids like 100.000 but these were deleted or pulled back. After the action finished they went to a local bank accompanied by a television team and had the money counted :425,27
(the sellers had estimatted 640 - 2400) :woohoo: nice buy

The bidder was some person from Berlin, Germany (the bucket was located in Germany too, town called Wirbenz), unknown till this point is if the seller actualy coughed up the dough.

at the moment there are 12 copycats on german ebay. :side:

So the buyer effectively paid 11,824.73 EUR for a bucket?

Hey think positive they reduced shippement and send it for free.

But in my opinion thy shouldn't have counted it in public but just had it shipped and then get it counted publicly.
