At this moment the IFMAR off road WC is happening in Vaasa, Finland!

Right now the 2WD qualifying rounds are taking place - the race will be tomorrow.
Lee Martin and Marc Rheinard are running TRF201s for Tamiya.
Have to say Martin is doing okay but Rheinard is not getting impressive results yet...

Later this week Tamiya is defending it's 4WD world title!

New update! Lee Martin kept the momentum going - Rheinard lost a few places...

Not bad at all, coming in 3rd overall for Martin. They're both better than in the warm ups...
Tomorrow one more qualifier and then the 2WD World Championship race!

@Lars : It's great to watch the event like this - even with the basic camera position.
Not using the LiveRc.com site itself but the IFMAR pop up page helps bandwith a lot.
The start is in view of the camera so that's cool and the speaker is doing a really great job. It's very entertaining.

But here's the latest news after a brilliant fight with Ryan Maifield (also Asso) :

New 2WD World Champion : Ryan Cavalieri (Team Associated)!



Lee Martin ended at the ninth position but I think he's a 4WD specialist...

It's quite ammusing to see Tamiya.com's English Headline today:

"TRF511 Takes 1st Place at the 2011 Buggy Worlds Warm-Up!"

I had to read the article twicejust to understand it actually had nothing to do with the recent IFMAR 2011 off road World Championship.

Another headliner could have been: "Tamiya looses big time in Finland, in spite of good practice earlier this year."

Asso kicked everybody's behind big time in this race...

I'm a bit disappointed at Tamiya's accomplishments here - maybe that's why I forgot to update earlier.
Wonder why they only sent so few drivers to this event though...

Better to have a crappy warm up and take home the title later of course!
