Cool, will be printed after calibration, if I ever get past that hurdle... :-O

The build is done, but I haven't connected anything yet. The next step is to install the software supplied with the printer and see what happens.
The Google-translated from Chinese to English manual is not particularly straight forward. ..

This is how it looks now.

My first print!

After finding a broken wire to the filament extruder motor, this 10x10x10 mm cube is my first print.

Not bad at all in my mind. B)

Massiv or hollow?

It's massive, sort of. The 3D printer fills the inside with a certain persentage, usually in a grid pattern.
One can of course decide degree of fill when slicing the model.

I'll get some images later to illustrate that.

More 3D print testing going on today.

This time I found a vase-looking object in thingiverse.com and decided to test this.
I've seen test on youtube where these sturctures causes problems because of heat build up and consequently warping of the walls.

My test went smooth. The vase is 30mm diameter and 32 mm high and took about 20 minutes to print.

Here is a video of the printer in action: www.tamiyabase...._Movie.mp4

This is the "slicer" program, converting a 3D model into printer logic. This is close to the end of the print.

And the final product:

It's alive! And possibly has a mind of it's own...

First association with the second print was that the movie "Ghost" was on Dutch TV tonight.

thats awesome, it looks like yours is printing nice and consistently. Once I'd done my test print, I ended up having heaps of trouble printing, mainly to do with levelling the print bed and getting the print to stick. I've since worked out what to do, but I still have the odd issue. So I am in the process of upgrading parts to make this better and easier.
