I locked myself the whole Saturday in the Garage and continued the work on the V8. Took the camshaft out , cleaned the cooling system as it was full of rust residual stuff, flywheel was also removed and gave all the gasket surfaces a nice clean.

Prepared everything for the new distribution, gear and double reinforced timing chain

Old vs. New

And I just measured one intake cam for fun. Compared to the stock camshaft the one provided by Edelbrock has approx.1mm more lift on the intake

Dude! 1mm higher :woohoo:
Parts are nice when new. The bearing on the gear is the tension triming of the chain?

Yep 1mm more lift :-) . Just hope that the idle won’t be too high.

The excenter on the camshaft gear is for the mechanical fuel pump... there is no timing chain tensioneer.

Very cool buddy. No degrease clean and paint while the block is stripped down?

On another note, You must be as excited as I am :) Super Bike Season starts at the end of the month and Sepang GP2019 test this week :) :)
If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem mate :)

Oh yes, no worries it will be degreased and painted. But i had to install the camshaft because the timing cover has to be installed prior painting the block.
I hope to finish the pre-assembly this WE and take the block for painting next week.
