Thank you Lars for setting this up - I think it looks great! Very excited about this! :cheer:

About the TamiyaBase Award system

Congrats to Louisbaby and Jonny Retro for getting the first builder awards! Very much agree with that. ;)
An instant silver level for John even! Understandable when one looks at his threads.
I'd also like to take the opportunity here to recommend sjh70 for an upcoming builder award with this thread as a basis :

58016 Scorcher rebuild

I've enjoyed it very much. Tidy thread, great pictures and a brilliant result. :)
Spotted some shorter threads with beautiful restos also...

I'd like to propose that other members can also use this topic to recommend a member for a category award.
If prefered - this can also be done anonymously by sending Lars or the moderator(s) a message about it.
They will be taken into consideration although I think the criteria for earning an award will not be taken lightly. ;)

If I'm not mistaken there might even be a bit more development concerning the new set up...

I for one am (even) more motivated to deliver good threads and info! :woohoo:

@ Lars - I'd like to nominate Edou for a "Tech tip" award for his Custom vintage Manta Ray rebuild thread :)

I'd also like to suggest a new award along the lines of "paint guru", and nominate sjh70 for his 58016 Scorcher rebuild - which with the possible exception of the 58025 Golf Racing Gr.2 has to be the most difficult box art paint jobs to get to look good.

Thank you for the nominations. Both have been awarded :-)
The new award is "Paint Wiz" in the usual three steps.

Could there possibly be place for another category?
People have really been putting pics in the gallery and I have seen a few beauties.
Here's some of my favourites - in random order ...

A - Brilliant pic of Louisbaby's CC-01 :

B - Zephyrin's Wild One and his awesome drift :

C - Tamiya Madrid's Sand Rover looks so tasty, you almost want to eat it :

D - Beautiful pair of buggies by Jonny Retro :

E - ShayD's Hotshot - they don't call it that for nothing :

F - If this really is the same wreck as Jonny Retro showed "before" remains a mystery. ;)

G - Tamiya nut's Manta Ray with Terra Conquerer shell looks stunning... which wing is it btw?

Okay, need another post to place the good stuff. :silly:

H - The picture perfect Sand Scorcher by sjh70 :

I - Lars' superslick 58115.

J - Not bugging me at all. Tamiya Madrid's perfect specimen :

Which one do you like?

Doesn't have to be one of these - but it could!
If we end up with a selection of four, we could start a poll to select a winner... :cheer:
A (locked) topic with a special gallery of winners I can create at least!

Wow thanks Edou what a compliment the rear wing is actually taken from an Ansmann Royal Flash kit i had and can actually be picked up really cheaply off ebay as a seperate item. i did a little work on the original transfers to make them fit as i wanted to try and keep some originality. :)

Thanks for the tip about the wing. Like the curves it has...
I think the car really sticks out - new body options for my own Manta Ray now definitely include the Terra Conquerer. B)

I think we all qualify for that one at some point... or with every new RC discipline we encounter.
