SRB Buggy Champ bits and pieces put together. 10 years 6 months ago #25957

Couple of weeks ago scored front and rear of a SRB project.

almost everything one needs, had to get new front towers as they were shortened :S
came with alloy front bumper and a gearbox protector

ordered a alloy chassis plate at Radshape.rc

and got to work

stainless fasteners (had some leftover from my beetle SRB)

Decided to do something different on the dampers,

rear works fine, might move the upper attachement forward and drill thru the rollbar clamps for more stablity

front needs some longer piston shafts (now 30mm will try 40)

rear cage will be replaced with an RCchannel one.

Nice. What make are those shocks? And can you get them in colours other than baby pink?

I've used some Ansmann ones on my SRB and while they look nice, they don't give quite the full travel on the rear.

What about moving the bottom back by shaving the alloy mount down some So the top of the shock stays centred with the body

Nice project by the way ;)
If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem mate :)

those are tamiya 53155s are the same as the gold with blue spring TA03 damper 53280 just a bit cheaper. (tamiya did a limited blue version also 49037)
the pink wears of quite easely so no problem there ;)

being centered is not the problem, due to the spring there is more force on the bracket, and that is just loosly fitted on the vertical rollbar, just two small pin that fall in a hole.

Not sure if I will stick with the original tires, got a set with nice alloy wheelcaps from Pargu.

Or go for a frog hex adapter and use different rims.

for the bracket thing why don't you make one in a cad program and send it off to shapeways.com to get it made?
it will cots a little bit but it should work

Have a piece of aluminium lying around think I will get activ with drill and file and make my own brackets with some blood, sweat and bad language. ;)

SRB Steering setup 10 years 6 months ago #25986

Was thinking of using parts from Top Force or Egress to improve the steering.

edit: found a post on TC wasn't the first to come up with that brilliant idea B) :y:

edit.2: room for more tamiya actually has loads of alloy steering arms that might work in front of an SRB;

53848 TA05 Aluminum Racing Steering Set
53971 TRF501X Aluminum Steering Arm
54095 TB-03 Aluminum Racing Steering Set
90° arms
54191 M-05 Aluminum Racing Steering Set
54235 FF-03 Aluminum Racing Steering Set
54451 XV-01 Aluminum Steering Arms
