High Lift Help Please 1 year 2 months ago #74300

I have a shelf queen Hilux High Lift that’s never been run. Decided to set it up for my daughter but have the following issue:

As it’s been gathering dust for years I cleaned and re-assembled the  3 speed gearbox, diffs and complete drive mechanism. When on it’s roof the drive shafts and wheels turn but when on it’s wheels it barely moves, looks like a lack of power. Could the motor of had it after years not running?

Any help or tips appreciated.

Cheers in advance

I'm thinking it's more likely to be the battery...

Cheers for the reply, using a brand new battery so that can be ruled out.

Too loose setscrew on the motor pinion is my guess.
Make sure it is tight and fitted to the flat spot of the motor.

I’ve took the end cap off the gear box so I can see motor pinion. It’s not loose and drives the large cog fine until I put the wheels on the floor then it struggles to turn and move.

thought to mention it has the MFC-02 installed as well

If you take off the driveshafts from the axles. do the axles spin freely?
They should. If not fix axle so they rotate with ease.
If they do. Next is to test the gearbox with no driveshafts.
Do it rotate freely when adding power?
If not.
Unplug the motor wires from the speed controller and power the motor wires directly to the battery.
If the motor spin the motor with no problem and the transmission spin freely in all 3 gears. It is then most likely the speed controller is busted.

Also make sure the slipper clutch is adjusted properly (the large spur gear with a nut on), if this is not thighten enough, it will slip and thus the slipper clutch will not direct power trought it when tires is placed on the ground.
I think this might be your issue, since it all rotates when the tires is off the ground.

I don't know the MFC-02 in detail but it must work very similarly to the MFC-03.
I guess you still have to do the basic setup, I had to do it on one of my trucks once too.

Do you have the original motor?
