Good evening,

My new project arrived today! My first SRB project. Looking forward to it when i can find the time...
My wife gave birth to another boy yesterday, named Chris, so things are hectic around here :)
Also because i am still building a new big garage next to the house, which ofc will be the new home of my Tamiya's B)

One of the reasons i bought this one, was i needed some original and good rear wheels and tires for my Holiday Buggy resto :)
And lucky enough some decals survived also!

Congrats on the new sprog :y:

That's the best looking Scorcher for restoration I've seen - it even has a mirror (maybe two?) .Nice to have the period radio & boxed extras too, and of course the decals.

I can't really tell from the photos, but it looks like screws are acting as spring stops on the front uprights, does it have any other "mk.1" features?

:)

Thnx JR :)
It has the original early black bumper and some other Mk1 features.

Not sure if there are more mk 1 features to look for...

Slotted M2 screws rather than the later slotted+cross type are another MK1 feature, the early rear wishbones each had cups for 2x bearings rather than 1x (Although only 1x outer bearing is fitted cos the inner one has nothing to keep it in position). There's a difference in the gearbox half mouldings, but I can't remember what it is, same goes for the front lower gearbox moulding.

If it were me, I'd clean/tidy what you've got, but don't repaint etc the body unless it's seriously damaged - it's far more collectable & would make more money (If you decide to sell) if it's in original condition with it's original paint & decals

Hi Bram,

Nice score on the SS ! It looks in pretty good condition and it seems that almost all the "sensible" parts are there !

Concerning the Mk1 specs, you can have a look on my Rough Rider resto thread, Jonny sent me some links about the Mk1 features and explanations.
As far as i understood, it looks like yours is an Mk1.

Congrats on the new boy!
And the SS looks like a great project!
And it sure is a Mk.1, take good care of it.

Good evening,

Decided to give this some project some time again. :)
These tires are wasted...

And some other parts

So took it all apart...

Too bad the rear tires are very well glued, even after 30 years
Got some new front tires, tto bad no luck yet with right mirror and wipers.
