This build is of RC model number 2 by Tamiya, the Porsche 935. I really like the early models, the metal chassis and the amazing quality of the body shell.

I had a few bits and pieces already acquired from gathering bits up for the 934 build.
That’s still in a box.

So when a complete looking Big Scale kit came up fairly cheap on eBay, I took the plunge.

And here are the parts I already had.

Anyway I put a shout out for parts and somebody very kindly answered, with everything I need.
I shouldn’t complain, but this always happens, what was going to be what I thought was a long term project, suddenly comes together quickly.

So here are the extra bits I needed. I couldn’t believe it.

I even managed to find the instruction Manuel in very good condition, nice and clean.

Any way as I’m on holiday this week I thought I’d make start.
Everything gets a good clean and polish.

Following the manual, it’s time to start on the rear axle and gear box.

Then the gear box.

Absolute simplicity.

I had a brand new 6V battery holder, but it was interesting to see the brass screws looked dirty.

And opening another NIP part, for the front steering. I think I got the plate it attaches to looking pretty neat, so it doesn’t stand out.

And the chassis pretty much finished.

A few little bits need sorting, the pinion looks grubby so it needs cleaning up before I install it.
I need to make some spacers to add to the side brackets to pull the body shell down a bit, when it gets fitted ??

Quick look at it with the body on.
This needs totally stripping and starting from scratch.

Steering servo added.

And a NIP original speed controller.

Time to move this project on. The body shell I got for this which is from the static kit came to me partially started, but I really couldn’t tell what had been done.
Some parts luckily haven’t been painted, bonus.
The front bonnet looked unpainted, but had a decal applied, while the main body was partially decaled, but looked like it had clear coat over it ???

After applying some graffiti remover, I could see the main body had been painted and that’s all bubbled up nicely.

I think the bonnet had paint as well, but I’m glad to be able to remove everything down to the bare plastic. I suspect someone started the kit, gave up and due to it sitting around the UV has affected parts differently.

That’s one cycle of paint removal.
