I never found a good solution. Dremeling and hand pouncing are my alone solution.

Don't forget Andyaus's great media blasting technique! Brake fluid has also been know to work too.....
From somewhere out in the wilds of central Ontario.

Yep. Soft sand blasting looks to be a good solution.
The brake fluid make cloudy and dry the lexan. I used one time clean oven spray in a bag. I found a body puzzle...... it was a nice ford 34 parma body.. snif |

Yes I have blasted lexan, So far just a Wild One driver but as long as you protect the outside to keep it shiny It came up great If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem mate

Never had a whole lot of luck stripping paint of polycarbonate by "quick" means - had some sucess with caustic soda but the general consensus there was that I was lucky to get away with it, it usually not being "safe" - i.e. "melty"
Graffiti remover makes it go cloudy in my experience, even the side you're not stripping so fumes must be part of the problem... I haven't tried media blasting, i didn't have the kit the last time I needed to strip anything polycarbonate - usually it's so badly trashed (spilt, grated etc) that paint is the last of its problems & replacement is the only way to go. |
