Hi
Can anyone confirm which is the part number for clear gloss spray ??

Had a look on Tamiya website but all it says is ITEM 81022
X22 Clear, is this gloss, satin or matt ?????

Also i no this may be a stupid question but neeed to ask JUST IN CASE ! but i take it is safe to use as a final coat over the std gloss spray they do just dont want it to react with the base coat ???

You may ask why i want to gloss over gloss it ? well after applying decals i want to go over the whole body, stop the decals lifting and also to make it feel a flatter surface and smooth to touch, bit of a perfectionest !

Hi erb777,
You can find the answer to your question in the The Database , under Color and Paint . (scroll down to bottom)

To sum it up:
X22 clear is a pot of clear paint (not a spray)
The clear spray (for plastics) is TS13. (Item 85013)

Basically, if Tamiya's description says only "clear", it's "clear/gloss". Matt/flat, satin, etc will have that in the product name.

As long as you use same brand paints(I recommend Tamiya), you will be safe from any reactions between coats. You can even spray TS Clear onto PS colours ;)

Quite a few modellers use a clear coat over the decals, for the reasons you mention. I don't as I don't think it looks right. B)
