Ebay customer service.... 7 years 8 months ago #39727

For some reason, I'm currently unable to pay for my ebay purchases, so I contacted Ebay customer support:

I get the following error message when hitting "Buy it now" on item no. xxxxxxxxxxxxxx:
"Something went wrong, Please try to check out again. Error codes: 70245 70438"
I have tried several times over again, over two days, with the same error message appearing.

Lars, I just want to inform you that we also received a number or email with similar issue as yours. One of the possible reason that causes this error is having different shipping address on what is on the credit cards billing address. Sellers also has the option to specify their PayPal account not to accept payment if these two informations don't match to prevent fraud.

If this applies in your situation, then I suggest that you change your shipping address and have it matched on your billing address.

I trust this information is helpful. I appreciate you taking the time to communicate with me today.

My first thought: Why all the mumbo-jumbo?? :sick:
There is so much text in the reply that I can hardly find their proposed solution... :n:
So I review and change my addresses with both Ebay and Paypal, I even wait two days for the address to be confirmed through my credit card with Paypal.

In the meantime the item I wanted is gone, but relisted more expensive than before, so I send in a Best Offer, which is accepted after some negotiation. I think I'm good with being able to pay, but not so. Still the same error messages.

I contact Ebay again, by replying to the previous reply:

I need further help.
I have changed my address to what it was before, and re-confirmed the credit card, but still I get this error.
In Paypal, I now only have one address registered, both as Home and Business address:
blah, blah, blah...

In eBay I have the following shipping address:
blah, blah, blah...

I have now, via "Make Offer", purchased item xxxxxxxxx but I am not able to pay for it.

Unfortunately as we are no longer partnered companies with PayPal we don't have insight in to Payments as we don't process them. Or it could be as simple as the ship to address does not match the buyers card information and the seller has something set up to deny payments like this because of fraud just like my colleague Rafael said.

Upon further review, I see here that the listing has ended already. If you're still interested to buy the item, please contact the seller and check with them if they have other available item so they can list it for you. Or you can just look for a similar item from a different seller.

So now they are being "honest", and telling me it's Paypal's fault.
Again, why do I have to read all this CRAP to find a reply to my concern?? :angry: :angry:
And I'm getting pissed off as they clearly didn't read my email... :cry: :pinch:

I have bought the item, but I'm not able to pay for it with Paypal.

It will be best to look for other sellers to buy this item since this listing has already ended.

Since this item is still unpaid in your purchase history, you can just leave it as it is and treat it as canceled. If the seller opens an unpaid item case against you, don’t worry because you can contact us back after the case closes and we will remove that record in your account.

Why do I need reassurance that the Item I bought has ended?? Of course it has, I bought it!! :S :blink:

But, at least they tell me they can't fix it and I need to talk to Paypal...

And, it sould be mentioned that every time I replied to an email from Ebay I first got a "Undeliverable mail" bounce back telling me: Failed to deliver to '<temp_u_customerhelp@unify-am-sp.ebay.com>'
But still I got replies... :ohmy:

The story continues.
Last chapter concluded with Ebay blaming Paypal.

So I contacted Paypal, called tham actually, and talked to a nice, Norwegian speaking guy. He quickly conculded that my account was fine, and turned me back to Ebay, with a "sorry, but it's really Ebay you must talk to"

So.. I contacted Ebay again...

I've just talked to PayPal.
They have no errors and sent me back to you.
PLEASE review my case properly and figure out why I get the error messages I heve given you.

And the, click the Add message right beside the sellers user id and send them a message that you wanted to ask for a PayPal invoice so that you can pay for the item.

So, at the fourth attempt, Genieve admits that the problem is caused by them and should be fixed by them!
Rafael, Jessa and Joshua M. all failed to understand the problem, or even read what I wrote or decided to blame somebody else.
