The Wild Willy is probably one of the most iconic Tamiya RC models ever. It is the first “stunt vehicle” by Tamiya, meaning it can do wheelies. The Wild Willy went through substantial development during its production run. The initial design soon proved too be to wheelie-happy, so the wheelbase was extended by 12-15mm by moving the rear wheels backwards. At the same time, Tamiya made changes to the gearbox design and other parts on the chassis. The body remained the same during the entire production run. The model was discontinued in 1987. The Wild Willy 2 (58242) was released 17 years after the original Wild Willy. The chassis is completely different, and there is many changes to the body as well.
