A lot of work shuffled today...
First, Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA body shell is ready to paint While I was doing this, my son was finishing the masking of his Ford GT Mk2 body shell... While I was cleaning the mess left on the table after my work, he came to me asking for some masks done on the cutter. He provided me a png file, and ask me to cut it at the right size... He told me to cut a lot as if it works he will put it on all his next cars... I did cut masks, and handed him the sheet. Few minutes later he showed me the Ford GT bodyshell with some new masks. I can tell I'm very proud of my son now I buy kits to built and ru(i)n them

Marc, you omit to say that your son is only 13 years old... Congrats to him

Yeah, I did not precise that. He got a right exemple at home, so he tries things. That helps... At the same age, everything I was doing was kind of empiric approach, with no one explaining me how to proceed...
That is where you see how much the hobby evolved : today, tutorials you find on Youtube will help to set the high level approach for the paint very easily and it will remove a lot of the first mistake you do... And I also believe the fact my son knows I can remove paint afterwards makes him on comfort zone as well, as in the worst case scenario, it would be clean and restart... Another argument for "we are living in great times"... I buy kits to built and ru(i)n them

A bit of trouble this morning assembling my Blazing Star. As I attempted to begin attaching parts to the main chassis, the chassis itself started to just fall apart as screws went in.
Total junk....... Maybe a nice planter for my Wife???? Luckily my local hobby store had one for under $9 so I ran up there quick. Chassis finished!!! This has happened (surprisingly) only one other time. It was with the gold inserts on the two piece wheels for the Taisan Starcard 911 GT2. They just went to dust when I tried to assemble them, even tried some various liquids to rehydrate to no avail... I am really surprised this doesn't happen more often to some of these older plastics..... Attachments: |
