It's a Ford 1.4TDCi unit. I believe the same engine is used in the Peugeot/Citroen range and is called the 1.4HDi.
I called a couple of local garages and none of them would touch it. A local diesel specialist quoted £1000 because apparently the bits of turbo and oil and other crud can get into stange places and they all need to be checked otherwise they cause more damage. Because the car is a 2002 Ford Fiesta with 167,000 miles on it, this will effectively write it off. I thought about buying a second-hand turbo off ebay and bunging it on then flogging the car quick, but my wife vetoed that as she has more morals than me The Fiesta is now on ebay in its current state and we've already had an offer of £400. If we get to £500, it's gone. Looks like we might be car shopping this weekend. |

Stange for a DV4. On my C4 (DV6 engine like the 1.6tdci) a lot of pièces to change. Your breack is due to an injector joint. The compressions go into the oïl circuit and block the oïl passage by the oïl pump filter. It is the problem of the Ford/PSA DV4/DV6 engines. PS The DV6 is the most sold diesel motor around the world |

Is that engine also used in the Mini? My wife got her wish and we pick up a 2008 Mini Cooper D on Saturday. We stuck the Fester on ebay for £600 BINOBO with the blown turbo and had a lot of interest. Several offers of £400. A guy from Plymouth ( ) hit the BIN button and says he will collect this week. I was dubious at first because the guy has 0 feedback and lives so far away. However he has now been in touch by phone and has promised to pay a deposit by bank transfer today. We rented a car for this week to get her to work. Booked the cheapest, nastiest group A car available. When we turned up at Avis, the guy said "Oh, we don't really have any group A cars, so you can take that" (pointing to a bright yellow Citroen DS3 with big alloys). The missus drove it home and said, somewhat nervously "It's very fast". We looked at the paperwork and it is the THP 155 6-speed DSport model which hits 60mph in 7.3 seconds Needless to say, I took it for a quick test drive around the block to confirm. |

I am not sure that the cooper has a DV6 but for the DS3
Your wife had the sport chic version with the THP gasoline turbo engine. "the EP6" This motor is just the mini cooper one with just 150hp. "220 on the JCW cooperS" This motor is a BMW and issued of the formula one technology. Perso I prefer the 120hp. And The DS3 is cheaper and more efficient than the cooper. In diesl The DS3 has the new generation of DV6 the DV6 C or DV6D In 110hp it is very efficient and largely modified and fiabilized If you can use a gasoline take a DS3. The RC version has the EP6 upgraded to 200HP with carbon inserts It looks better |

Unfortunately the DS3 is only a rental car for this week. It goes back on Friday.
The Mini is the 1.6 turbo diesel with 108 bhp (110PS) which should be plenty for the little lady According to Wikipedia it is the same PSA group engine that is fitted to the Mini. Andy - it is Metallic British Racing Green only (no white roof or anyhting like that), although my wife is already looking at roof decals and bonnet stripes. |

If it is the same as the psa motor, It is the DV6C D. A good and fiabilized motor. Just the name is the same. You have here a good engine. EURO5 made.

HI!... I'm reading all of this and am kinda glad I live in Canada. Me being a hot rodder and all I think I would go crazy with all these wimpy H.P cars you guys have available to you. Here the average car has 220-250H.P. Even the soccer mom mini vans are 300H.P. Most average sports cars here are 400-600H.P right from the factory. Most of the new v-6's are over 300H.p. Here if your car doesn't do at least 0-60mph in under 5.8 seconds it's considered slow. lol. My V6 Ford Ranger runs 0-60MPH in 4.7 seconds and does the 1/4 in the mid 13's and that's my daily driver.
